Cinco De Mayo

I would first like to say thank you for all of your wonderful birthday wishes! Like I said in my previous post, to me it’s not about the big party or material gifts, what means the most to me on my birthday is spending quality time with my family and friends, and you all have made my birthday extra special!

For me, the month of May signifies the start of new beginnings. A new birth year, tons of new flowers in my garden, and the beginning of summer! And you know what that means- more time outside with my family and friends, barbeques, margaritas, and lots of summertime jewelry.

This month I wanted to share with you all one of my favorite around-the-house tricks that is so simple and so green. After a Cinco de Mayo barbeque, gather all of your liquor bottles, rinse them out, and use them around the house as flower vases! Simple, easy, and it gives a little personal touch to your floral arrangements. Sometimes I’ll even add a scrap of fabric tied in a bow and a pair of earrings or a necklace, just to give it that extra pop of Betty Badd.

As much as I try to recycle, I still always feel bad throwing away empty bottles. It feels like such a waste, and some of the bottles are actually really pretty. So, this summer I’ve resolved to keep more fresh flowers in the house and at my studio so I can re-purpose the empty bottles as flower vases.

It’s probably one of the easiest things you can do to bring a little of the outdoors inside, while not throwing away another bottle. Feel free to share your photos of your liquor, floral arrangements on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the #BettyBadd, and I’ll be sure to share some of my favorites!

xoxo Betty
